Halloween: The Game release time and platforms
IllFonic’s official launch announcement lists September 8 at 9 AM Pacific Time. That converts to noon Eastern, 4 PM UTC and 5 PM in the UK. The announcement mistakenly calls September 8 a Friday; the calendar date falls on Tuesday. Use the stated date and time, and check your regional storefront before planning a session.
The confirmed versions are PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam and Epic Games Store. Those platforms are listed in the developer’s single-player reveal. Do not assume that a PS4, Xbox One or Nintendo version is included in that announcement.
What do you get at launch?
The launch package includes a solo campaign, four multiplayer maps and ten playable civilian characters. The named maps are Haddonfield Town Center, Haddonfield Heights, Orange Grove Estates and East Haddonfield. Civilian Perk Cards and unlockable customization give players additional progression goals. Digital Deluxe includes two additional civilians, Richard and Alexis.
For a first session, we recommend choosing one mode and learning its objectives before worrying about unlocks. A long list of cosmetics does not tell you whether you will enjoy the underlying game. Your preference for solo horror or repeated multiplayer matches is the more useful starting point.
Can you play Halloween: The Game solo?
Yes. The story mode puts you in Michael Myers’ role across six chapters, with Dr. Loomis narrating. It is inspired by the original film, but presented as a reimagined extended version rather than simply watching familiar scenes. Chapters feature objectives, optional challenges and collectibles, with multiple difficulty choices.
That makes the campaign the clearest option for readers interested in the setting without organizing a group. However, a confirmed single-player mode is not automatically a promise about offline authentication on every storefront. Check the platform listing if playing without an internet connection is essential to you.
How does the 1v4 multiplayer work?
In the official multiplayer overview, one player controls Michael while four civilians try to rescue residents and escape. Civilians locate and persuade neighbors, search for useful equipment and adapt to changing escape locations. Starting an escape makes noise that can reveal its location to Michael.
Michael’s tools emphasize stalking and movement through darkness. His Shape Jump has visibility restrictions: he cannot simply enter and leave it in plain sight. Civilians who die can still help their team and may return as a deputy or Dr. Loomis. The developer describes detaining Michael, rather than killing him, as a possible outcome.
Our beginner recommendation is to communicate discoveries instead of having everyone independently chase the same objective. Tell teammates where you found residents and potential exits. Treat the first match as an opportunity to understand the map and the objective language, not as proof that one side is overpowered.
Should you buy Deluxe for early access now?
Early access began September 4. Once the standard launch arrives, that head start has ended. Compare the remaining edition contents and the price difference; do not pay extra expecting four additional days after September 8.
What should you check before buying?
Check your platform’s requirements, the current edition description and recent official support notices. This guide does not confirm live cross-platform matchmaking health, benchmark performance or server uptime. Those are separate questions from a game’s advertised features. If your purchase depends on playing with friends, verify that particular connection before everyone buys.
